Alaska runs no statewide rider-training programme. The Division of Motor Vehicles accepts a Motorcycle Safety Foundation course completion certificate in place of the road test, points riders to the Foundation's own locator for a course near them, and lists its business partners that offer motorcycle road testing: A.B.A.T.E. of Alaska, Valley A.B.A.T.E., Juneau A.B.A.T.E., and Harley-Davidson dealerships on the Kenai Peninsula and near Denali. The Division does not publish course prices or schedules.

The Motorcycle Safety Foundation's Basic RiderCourse is designed for beginning riders aged 16 and up, pairing about five hours of classroom or online learning with about ten hours of on-motorcycle training, and it ends in a written knowledge test and a rider skills test.
