Corrections & verification log

This site publishes licence steps, permit rules, helmet laws and fees that riders use to get on the road legally. When we get one wrong, the fix belongs in public — with what it said, what it says now, and how long the error stood.

Everything in the first section was live on the site. Errors caught in review before publishing are not listed there; calling those “corrections” would flatter us and tell you nothing. Our corrections policy explains the standard, and this page is the record of it being kept.

Spotted something wrong? Email editor@getmotorcyclelicense.com with the page and, if you have it, the primary source that contradicts us. Corrections are verified against a primary source before we change anything.

Published claims that were wrong. Newest first.

  1. August 5, 2026Claims the site made about itselflive for 8 days before we caught it

    Three claims in our structured data were not true. The homepage declared itself an interactive lookup application carrying a price, on a page with no form, input or dropdown anywhere in it. A profile list was published as an empty set, which positively asserts "this organisation has no other profiles" rather than simply not saying. And a voice-assistant selector pointed at a section that existed on none of the 119 pages. These are claims aimed at machines rather than readers, but a false claim is a false claim.

Verification log

Checks of the data we publish, listed whether or not they found an error. A check that finds nothing is not a non-event — it is the only evidence that the checking happens at all.

  1. August 5, 2026The audit's own findings

    Before acting on an audit of our structured data, each finding was checked against the built HTML rather than taken on trust.

    Result: One of the audit's claims was itself wrong and another was misleadingly phrased. Worth recording: a naive search for the missing section appeared to find it on 112 pages, because the text occurred inside the structured-data block that referenced it. The finding survived only because it was tested properly.

  2. August 6, 2026State pages — how much was reaching the reader

    Checked what the 51 state pages actually rendered against what the dataset held.

    Result: Around 79,000 characters of sourced detail were being held and never displayed. Now rendered. Data that is collected and not shown is not published.

  3. August 14, 2026Fields we have not finished — permit holding periods

    A permit holding period is recorded for 13 of the 51 jurisdictions, and no record on this site has yet been through a second human verification pass.

    Result: Incomplete, and stated rather than hidden. Where a holding period is unknown the page leaves it blank instead of inferring one from a neighbouring state — a blank is honest, an inference is not.

Requirements, fees and helmet laws change without notice, and a page that is right today can be wrong next quarter. Always verify with your state licensing agency before you apply or ride.
