MMRS delivers the Basic RiderCourse as a 5-hour online eCourse (completed on the Motorcycle Safety Foundation's own site at no charge) plus about 10 hours of on-cycle training over two days, both running 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. It also offers the one-day Basic RiderCourse 2 ($80), for a rider with prior street experience, and an Advanced RiderCourse ($80) for seasoned riders, at MMRS sites around the state, and charges $10 to replace a lost completion card.
MMRS states plainly that a rider is not required to take a training course to get the endorsement; completing a Basic RiderCourse or Basic RiderCourse 2 only waives the state riding-skills test, and the written knowledge test is still required. A rider who completes a Motorcycle Safety Foundation Basic RiderCourse in another state may separately apply for the same skills-test waiver.
